Mid February Library Run
Posted under books, to read by rahmaWhy didn’t I become a librarian? The library is one of my favorite places to be. I loaded up my wimpy little $1 Target greenbag to near bursting today. I browsed the islam section until my arms were full, and then looked for muslim related fiction. I like reading fiction that has muslim themes, and is relatively muslim friendly, although it’s often hard to tell from the blurb on the back. I must say, the Minneapolis Public Library has quite a diverse section on islam related books. I haven’t even gotten 1/10 of what I’ve wanted to borrow thus far. Here’s what I got, reviews to come later:
Have you read The Cairo Triology by Naguib Mahfouz? It is more about the struggles of an Egyptian family changing throughout three generations (struggle with politics and Islam). Mahfouz is one of my favourite authors.
I have :) I really love Cairo, and enjoy reading anything that takes place there. Another Egyptian author I’ve enjoyed is Taha Hussein, although I’m sure you’ve already read him as well, if you’re a fan of Mahfouz.
