Oum Amir - thanks much again for the recommendation. I do see they have a post graduate teaching licensure/masters program. I think perhaps I'll try to volunteer teaching english to immigrants (as if my experience with AbuS wasn't tramatic enough lol) to see if I'm cut out to be a teacher before I enroll.

Rebecca - as often as I complain at being labeled a new muslim after all these years, I'm sorely tempted to call myself as such if I were in Abu Dhabi, lol.

Molly - I know I didn't get any decent response when I applied for teaching jobs in Egypt a few years back, so I'll definitely have to look into more education. All of the gulf is open, but I'm leaning more towards the UAE, for no other reason than it's more international. There was a blogger who taught at a university in Qatar and had a decent experience. I guess I'll have to do a lot more research. It's really all in the dreaming stage at this poitn :)

I'm not sure I can turn off the word capture. I don't see the option on my dashboard. I'll check with the hadithuna admin inshaAllah.

See you in a few days!

1- Don't work corporate in any non-Western country. That's my advice.

2- A lot of good schools here will not hire you without the license except for grunt jobs. And this is Egypt, the Gulf will be more strict.

3- Have you checked out places like Oman and Qatar?

4- Can you turn off the stupid word capture crap??? Please? I had to refresh for a new word twice before I could even read it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to see if there's a master's program that also includes certification.

I actually have a teaching license in ESL education from ye ol' state of Minnesnowda. Life circumstances dictate that I can't teach either locally (too far out in the sticks, I'm afraid) or overseas for the time being. The places I did previously look at for teaching overseas look at you askance if you just have a certification and not an actual teaching license.

Teaching in the Gulf requires a minimum of a Master's and teaching experience to land a decent position (i.e. a school that actually pays and won't fold next week.)
